Anyone can meet with our Session, the local ruling body to discuss membership. You can join us by profession of faith, transfer of membership from another Christian church or re-affirmation of faith.

We have 2 sacraments: Baptism and Communion. Baptism is our response to God’s invitation to salvation by faith, through God’s grace. We baptize people of all ages. Communion is a memorial instituted by Jesus Christ for all who believe and trust in Him. Eating the bread and drinking the cup remind us that we belong to Christ.

Presbyterians belong to the churches of the 16th Century Reformation. Martin Luther, John Calvin and others sought to ‘reform’ the Christian church along the lines of the priesthood of all believers, the authority of Scripture and shared leadership for accountability.

The local congregation is run by the Session, which is made up of Ruling elders, chosen by and from the congregation. The Session is moderated by an ordained clergy person, usually the pastor of the church. We are also a connectional church, belonging to a Presbytery, which includes all of our churches in a specific geographical area. CPC is part of the Presbytery of New Covenant, located in the Synod of the Sun, part of the nation-wide PC(USA).
-
We use a call system. The congregation votes to hire a new pastor. Congregations and pastors seeking new calls are matched through a national data base, under the oversight of both a congregational and Presbytery committee structure.
-
Yes! CPC has a very active Congregational Care system that visits, bring Communion and keeps up with home-bound folks. Being home-bound is NOT a barrier to membership at CPC.
